My Carpe Diem
Hello ! I’m Roxanne, and yes like ‘the song’. I’m the founder and owner of Kiki’s Beach Apparel and I’m a beach enthusiast. I had my first beach going experience at the age of 15 and my love for it has never faded. That moment where the ocean meets the sandy shore and covers your toes as if it’s the first time every time.
A few years ago I went on holidays with my girlfriends and when I came back I had an idea, a concept of sorts that would resolve one of my biggest pet peeves and beach irritants. I drew up design after design, sketch after sketch while always staying focused on my concept. Of course time went by and life happened so my idea remained an idea… for at least five other beach holidays. However my vision for a simplified beach experience remained. During my travels I continued observing other beach goer’s behavior to see if I was the only one that found this ‘pet peeve’ irritating. Finally, in November 2018 while on vacation I had an epiphany – I had clarity on what my product should look like. For the first time I was looking forward to going back home to the cold snow and work on my design. I dusted off my Mother’s old sewing machine which I inherited after she passed and with a few meters of fabric I started cutting and sewing. Did I mention that I couldn’t sew one bit before I started? Combined with my fascination with the beach and my love for fashion I was determined to solve my biggest pet peeve. I designed (insert product) and after many iterations and prototypes, I’m ‘almost’ ready to share it with you.

Leaving my presence in my travels
I have been very fortunate to experience the pleasures of traveling to many beautiful beaches. I feel very grateful to have been able to share these experiences with my loved ones over the years. I am always humbled by the Sea’s powerful presence, the calming effect of her chants and the soothing caresses of my feet as she wraps herself around me. Every time I inhale I can’t help but whisper to her “Carpe Diem”.
